Fashion Night Out Fall 2011

Howdy Bon Vivant + a Budget readers! It's been quite a while since I last posted so I know you missed me! In that time, I have taken a vacation, experienced my 1st earthquake and a hurricane, started taking a class and made some new friends and purchases. I felt it apropos to resume regular postings today, the day after Labor day since it's the unofficial start of the Fall season.
Today's high temperature is a chilly 65 degrees in NYC. All my bikinis, sandals and frilly, summery clothing will go into hibernation as I'm increasingly drawn to rich jewel tones and lush textures with the temperature drop. Boots, sweaters and scarves will finally see the light of day after being imprisoned by suitcases, under-bed storage, and the back of my closet for many months.

Fall is a chance to see who really has style. In summer anyone can wear shorts and a t-shirt or a simple dress. Come fall, it is obvious how adept or inept people are at layering pieces, combining colors and exercising creativity with their sartorial pursuits in general. And that brings me to the point of this post- this Thursday, September 8th from 6-11pm is Fashion Night Out (FNO) in New York City and cities across the US.
FNO is one of my favorite events of the year and it is FREE! It is a chance to dress up with your girlfriends or some fashionable chaps and hit the town for tons of FREE events all across the city. Expect free cocktails; pampering sessions; dance parties with live DJs; free hors d'oeuvres; contests and giveaways; the chance to meet your favorite designers, models and celebrities; and of course- tons of fashion!!!! Naturally, the blogosphere will be out in force taking flicks, but make sure to bring your camera as well. Last year I went with a few friends and we had a blast. We didn't really make an itinerary, but rather picked a general area to hit. If you are a "planner," or have anything in particular you are dying to see, check the Fashion Night Out website here
