This weekend I got to hang out with my girls, get dressed up, and get a sneak peek of next Fall's fashions.
I kicked off the weekend on Friday night at Lulu*s Style Studio for bloggers, a super fun event where we got to play dress up and take home a cute piece of clothing (I didn't take any pics because I was too engrossed in the moment!)
On Saturday I found myself vintage shopping for several hours... Eventually my arms got heavy (and full) so I headed over to Textured Media's Texture on the Runway event. The models were beautiful, the venue was amazing, but it was somewhat disappointing that a show that framed itself as "a showcase of curls, kinks and waves" used predominantly Caucasian models with straight hair (manipulated by curling irons and hairspray) instead of women with naturally curly hair. I expected to see more ethnic women with hair like Solange(or my own) on the runway! I'm not sure what kind of message that sends to women with textured hair.
Sunday I ended the weekend by attending London designer Tsemaye Binitie's Fall 2012 presentation. I loved every piece from his collection- everything was so wearable and chic. I had no time to do my hair for the event so I took a scarf, wrapped it around my head, and made a turban. You can get a scarf on the street for $5 and do it yourself... bon vivant and a budget chic!
How was your weekend?
